17.05.2007 - Kemsing 165 all out V Frocester 142 all out.
After a wet night the fixture was switched to Frocester
second ground which saw a change in fortunes as the tourists recorded their
first ever win against Frocester. Batting first in this 40 over game Alex Gibbs
(20) and Chris Jobbins (34) got off to a solid start on a difficult track sharing
an opening partnership of 55. Graham Leno (26) weighed in with some lusty blows
as Kemsing innings began to fall apart. Accurate bowling saw wickets tumble
with only Grahame Wood (12) managing double figures as the innings closed on
165 which looked short of a good total.
Early progress for Frocester was slow due to tight spells
from Mike Wood (1 for 18) and Grahame Wood (2 for 17). They were ably assisted
by Julian Cotton (1 for 26) and Russell Shipton (1 for 34). At 64 for 2 the
home side looked well placed until Alan Parry (5 for 42) was introduced to the
attack. His second over saw 2 wickets in two balls and the chance of a hat trick.
The next ball was struck in the air towards Grahame Wood at mid off, but he
could only get fingertips to the chance which denied Parry the opportunity to
buy lots of beer! By the end of his spell they were 111 for 8 and the game was
over. Grahame Wood returned to mop up the tail and complete a fine 23 run win.
